Preschool Academics
with Teachers Angela
About the Program
Throughout the year your child will learn various skills to help them with their future academics. Between birth and three years of age, babies’ brains grow from being a quarter of their adult size to 80% of their adult size. While this period alone does not guarantee your child’s future cognitive abilities, it is by far the most important neurodevelopmental period especially in regards to language and communication skills.
This time is also a crucial period for your child to gain positive associations with learning. Confidence and a feeling of belonging in academic spaces have been continually shown to be a key predictor of success in students. At Sweet Sunshine Daycare we prioritize both by making learning fun for students. To capitalize on these formative years, Sweet Sunshine Daycare ensures every child has a sense of security and caters to every child’s learning needs. We focus on basic quantitative reasoning, hands-on scientific exploration, social-emotional skills, and an introduction to reading.
About the Instructor
Angela Baffa (Preschool and Arts & Crafts Teacher)
Angela has been working with children since 2006 and she is dedicated to her work. She carefully chooses an age-appropriate curriculum that will help build up the children’s cognitive development along with their fine motor and intellectual skills. She guides the kids through their very first steps to prepare them for writing and reading, recognizing letters of the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors. Through artwork, she inspires them to become more creative and build their self-esteem.
Angela truly enjoys the children’s curiosity through their playful experimentation and seeing their look of pride in their accomplishments: “It truly is a great experience seeing the children expressing themselves through art, and having lots of fun while learning.”
When Angela is not working she loves spending time doing puzzles, developing art and crafts on paper, and reading books. Angela also grew up doing dance classes such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, and samba. As of 2016, she has become a member of the dance group called “Don't quit your day job, dancers” and has been doing annual presentations at the Marin Civic Center Theater. She also has two birds: Olive Oil and Popeye.
