Physical Activity and Well-being
About the Activities
Physical activity plays a pivotal role in the holistic development of children, encompassing both physical and cognitive domains. Even during infancy, activities such as crawling, reaching, and grasping not only stimulate motor skills but also aid in sensory integration and cognitive development. As infants progress into toddlers, exploration and play become essential avenues for refining these skills along with promoting their spatial awareness and coordination as they navigate their environments.
Not only does physical activity during these formative years strengthen a child’s muscles and bones, but also come with many neurological benefits and connections to be made as well. Engagement in physical play promotes social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation, which are crucial skills for any child and their futures in navigating the world. Encouraging a variety of age-appropriate activities in a safe and stimulating environment sets the stage for a lifetime of stable health and well-being, underscoring the importance of prioritizing physical activity from infancy through the early years.
At Sweet Sunshine Daycare we have many periods where we let the children under our care play free but also cater to their development with structured classes. Our schedule sets a routine for instances where the children do yoga, kids CrossFit, and sports outside in our expansive play area.
